Synopsis
Toxic Town is a compelling and heartfelt real-life drama surrounding the UK’s biggest environmental scandal, often referred to as ’the British Erin Brockovich case’. This limited series portrays the relentless fight by a group of mothers seeking justice, after their babies were born with upper and lower limb differences because of environmental negligence by Corby Council.
The Guardian gave it four stars stating “Jodie Whittaker is obviously award worthy in this bittersweet tale” & “is absolutely flawless as she battles real-life justice”.

The i Paper | Emily Baker
Toxic Town is compulsory viewing - it's a scandal as big as the Post Office
"Watching Toxic Town should be compulsory. This is a terrifying story of civil negligence that every UK citizen should know about - not least because, as the end credits state, up to 1,287 landfill sites across the country contain hazardous waste and at least four of them are located underneath schools.
We have already seen what can happen when TV sparks outrage into action with last year's Mr Bates vs the Post Office. Toxic Town is powerful enough to do the same.”

The Guardian (G2) | Jack Seale
Jodie Whittaker is obviously award-worthy in this bittersweet tale
"However distressing the facts of the case, Toxic Town feels a responsibility to ensure its audience sticks it out. So, ultimately, this is a bittersweet feelgood piece.”

Mail On Sunday | Deborah Ross
If Mr Bates Vs The Post Office left you angry, prepare to seethe
"It's a true story but an unbelievable true story that keeps you engrossed and involved all the way, with part of the narrative drive coming simply from having to see the council answer for itself in the dock (the council are so arrogant it didn't even take out insurance should it lose the case.) I don't have space here to do justice to the actual judgement, but do look it up. A word of warning, though: it will make you very, very, very angry indeed"

The Times | Carol Midgley
Jodie Whittaker shines as an East Midlands Erin Brockovich
"Jack Thorne manages to make a bleak and enraging story sing with a fizzing script. It's because this is a piece of history. The legal case was the first in the world to establish a link between airborne toxins and damage to unborn babies. Just as importantly — because this is also entertainment, after all — there isn't a bad performance in it.”
